About Wholesale Brand Management (WBM)

WBM has spent 50 years championing brands as if they were our own, giving FMCG businesses unrivalled access to the key customers within the wholesale, convenience and impulse channels. We provide an end-to-end service from factory to store shelf, spanning discovery, brand onboarding, strategic planning, depot execution, retail activation and reporting and we back it up with data-driven insight rather than guesswork.

We’re an ambitious, growing business: expanding our brokerage offer, extending our footprint across the UK, and building the systems and structure to become the recognised leading independent brand management partner in wholesale and convenience. Our clients include well-known FMCG names such as Casillero Del Diablo, Yazoo, Butchers, Fini, Kettle, Chopstix, Brillo, Walls Pastry and our portfolio is growing. Everything we do is guided by our values, People, Ambition, Accountability and Integrity.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced account management professional ready for the next step in their FMCG career. As National Account Executive, you’ll report directly to our Head of Commercial Operations and be heavily involved in the commercial process that underpins our national accounts from forecasting and reporting through to Joint Business Plan preparation and negotiation support. You’ll take direct ownership of a portfolio of smaller national and regional accounts.

This is a role with real variety and genuine development potential: you’ll get hands-on exposure to the full commercial process including P&L and JBP work without being expected to own it end-to-end from day one, with support and mentoring from the Head of Commercial Operations as you build towards greater autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Account Management — Own the day-to-day relationship for a portfolio of smaller national and regional accounts across the wholesale, convenience and foodservice sectors, while supporting the Head of Commercial Operations across the wider key account base.
  • Sales Strategy — Help develop and implement account sales strategies, identifying opportunities for new listings, promotions and pricing initiatives that grow distribution and market share.
  • JBP & Negotiation Support — Play an active, hands-on role supporting the Head of Commercial Operations in preparing, negotiating and implementing Joint Business Plans (JBPs), compiling data, drafting proposals and tracking commitments with growing autonomy to lead negotiations on your own accounts over time.
  • Sales Forecasting & Reporting — Support forecasting and commercial reporting across the wider account base, working closely with the Head of Commercial Operations on data analysis, while owning accurate forecasting and reporting for your own accounts.
  • Customer Service — Act as the main point of contact for your own accounts, and a trusted secondary contact across the wider portfolio, resolving queries promptly and maintaining strong long-term relationships.
  • Team Collaboration — Work closely with WBM’s operations, finance and marketing functions to ensure account plans are executed smoothly, feeding insight back into product, pricing and customer experience.
  • Industry Knowledge — Keep up to date with trends, market conditions and regulatory change across FMCG, wholesale and convenience, and share insight with the team to help keep WBM and its clients ahead of the market.

What We’re Looking For

  • A proven track record (typically 2–3 years) in account management within FMCG, food & beverage, wholesale or convenience, ideally including some exposure to national or key accounts.
  • Some experience of, or clear exposure to, Joint Business Planning, forecasting or contract negotiation — you don’t need to have led these processes solo, but you should be comfortable getting hands-on with them.
  • A track record of managing accounts and hitting sales targets, with the ambition to grow into a broader national account role.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the confidence to build relationships with customers and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Good analytical skills, with confidence working with sales and forecasting data (CRM and strong Excel skills expected).
  • A proactive self-starter, comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growing business, with a genuine interest in developing under the mentorship of the Head of Commercial Operations.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the UK to visit clients and customers.
  • A proactive, collaborative attitude and alignment with WBM’s values, People, Ambition, Accountability and Integrity including a willingness to work openly, share knowledge, and treat colleagues and clients with respect.

Why Join WBM

You’ll be joining a business at an exciting stage of growth expanding our brand portfolio, our brokerage offer and our footprint across the UK. Working closely with our Head of Commercial Operations and alongside our National Account Manager, you’ll get direct exposure to the full commercial process behind national account management including, P&L and JBP work with real mentoring and a clear path to grow into a more senior account management role as WBM scales.
